Piper's Peace Party

Today was Piper's peace party. Also known as "Peace Love Piper. Piper is turning 6 on Tuesday and her Mom requested a very groovy peace party. The party was a huge success, about 15 kids came and they all had a blast.

The Pinata

As the kids came into the party they each received a groovy tie dyed t-shirt. Then they each got tattoos, hair dye, sunglasses, and headbands.

Two groovy kids!

The kids had a dance party as one of the activities

After the dance party, the birthday girl opened gifts. She was very patient by the way. And check out her cute pose :)

After gifts we had lunch, where we had 6, yes count them 6 lemonade spills! Oh well, I guess that's what plastic table cloths are for.

Each lunch contained smiley face sandwiches and fruit.

Then came the cake!
Here is the precious Necaise Family

And the Birthday Girl

Oh but wait!!! There was also ice cream. Each child made their own "Piper Parfait"!

This bucket contained vanilla ice cream
They were a hit!

And last but not least....the pinata

Piper's Dad was hilarious with the pinata, this is the birthday girl trying to bust it open.

Each child left with one of these cute peace sign water bottles.

I think the party was adorable, it was so much fun to create.
Happy Birthday Sweet Piper!!!

Cute Gift and Lamp Update

A friend of mine in Amarillo has started to make the cutest napkin rings. I am sure you have seen something similar, they are made of antique silver and hand stamped. I ordered a set for my MIL for mother's day and then I ordered a set for myself of course ;)

I ordered 6 napkin rings with numbers 1-6

I ordered "Baker" napkin rings for my MIL

I love them and my MIL loved them. I can't wait to use them

I replaced the two lamps on my sofa table, remember these?

Pretty plain

I replaced them with these, my Mom had these at her house.

They are very similar to these except 1/3 of the price.

Surprise at my door!!

I had a nice surprise at my doorstep today after work.
No, not this little guy, which was also on my doorstep. I hope to save a lot of money with Geico since our bush out front houses several of these lizards. One which crawled up my arm when I reached for my mail several months ago....but I won't get started with lizard talk.

The real surprise were these little babies
I knew what was in the white envelope, my print assortment from Emily at Jones Design Company

The other brown tube was a mystery. I did however assume it was a Birthday gift from another special Emily, my good friend from college.

Here is a fun college pic of me and Hill (that is her last name and nickname, I can't wait until I have children so they can all her Aunt Hill)

So what was in the package you ask?............................

The "I love you, blogs and coffee" from Made by girl

I absolutely loved it...I squealed. I have always wanted it but never bought it....Thanks Hill.
(on a side note, I sure have aged from my college picture. I guess that's what 7 years can do)

Here are some pictures of the art prints I ordered from Jones Design Company. If you have never ordered prints from Emily, you should. They are wonderful quality and awesome prints.

Now I just need to frame them and decide where to put them.

Maybe here?

It was a lovely surprise afternoon. And if things couldn't get any better, I turned on the TV and Sister Act II:Back in the Habit was on. What a great movie, any Sister Act fans out there?

Room Rearrange

If you are like me, you can't keep things static for a long period of time. I usually rearrange my classroom several times a year. Also, if you are like me....you like to take on big projects late at night or right before company is coming....or right after your husband had surgery and you are dying to move a large TV stand all by your lonesome. Anyway we I decided to rearrange my home for the first time since we moved and we began with the living and dining room.

This is what our living room looked like before: (forgive the photo quality)

This is a photo taken a few days after we moved in (sooo bare)

This isn't a great photo either but it is all I have of this angle

Here are the after photos, we basically just flipped everything to face the TV wall.

After:

The TV cabinet used to be in the corner where the chair is
I have plans to remove the blinds and put up a bamboo shade similar to Layla's kitchen window
In the dining room I turned the table and moved the buffet

I enjoy tweaking things in our home. I don't think it would be much fun to have every project finished. Maybe I will be singing a different tune when I have children. For now however it is a fun project. When we bought the home, the realtor mentioned painting the space between the molding so it looks chunkier. What do you think? Should that be one of my summer projects?

Sorry about the coats, we had company and it was pouring rain
I would love to put bead board on this wall with some hooks
The two lamps on the sofa table will soon be replaced with these

Happy Monday!
