Merry Christmas

I hope everyone is having a blessed Christmas! I was visiting my Aunt Janie and wanted to leave you with some precious photos of her decorations before it was too late. Janie was way ahead of her time, she has used these vintage decorations for as long as I can remember.

Merry Christmas!!!!

A Few Christmas Things

Hope you all are out for Christmas break and relaxing like I have been. First off I wanted to share some cute gifts that I made for an adorable family that I love and adore. These gifts are under $10 and super easy to put together.

1. Christmas Playdough
I have been making playdough for school for 5 years now. It is cheap, lasts a long time, and very inexpensive. It also takes no time to make.

I follow this recipe:
1 cup of flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
food coloring or single kool-aid pack

Mix dry ingredients. Add oil and water. Cook over medium heat until mixture forms a ball. Pour onto waxed paper or bread board and knead. Store in airtight container.
Mixing it with Kool-Aid gives the dough surprising scents: lemon, cherry, lime, orange, and will last for weeks in an airtight container.
NOTE: If child eats this, it is non-toxic. ( I have had 4 kids eat this playdough)

2. Christmas Cookie Jar
This one is obviously not a new one but I did want to share two simple cookies I made.

Look at these precious snowmen cookies. All you do is dip Nutter Butters in white chocolate and decorate with M&M's, orange tic-tacs, and mini chocolate chips.

Here are the other cuties, I failed to take a picture of the batch that I covered in Christmas sprinkles. This one is pretty self explanatory, just use food coloring to die the white chocolate and dip the oreos.

Last but not least, put them in a cute jar
I also failed to snap a pic of the cookies actually in the jar...what is wrong with me?

Next, I am currently sitting in the Amarillo airport drinking Diet Coke and eating Hot Tamales...very healthy. My flight is delayed by 4 hours so this is the perfect time to catch up on blogging and details from my visit home.

There is a precious neighborhood in Amarillo that is home to some of the best Christmas lights, it also has the cutest homes like this one....

Anyway we went to look at Christmas Lights and they were beautiful

And some were just plain funny

One more tidbit from my trip home: I took this photo because it was adorable and because I got Pele(my little childhood puppy) for Christmas 14 years ago. There was a little kennel under my tree with a note that said come pick up your new puppy. Poor little guy he is so old and precious. I thought this photo was ironic, all things come in full circle.

Yay! They announced a time for my flight. Merry Christmas Ya'll!

Well Paint My Door Red and Call me Elizabeth Arden!

I hope everyone understood that quote from "Steel Magnolias"
(which by the way is my all time favorite movie).

Anyway.....that's just what I did last week. Since we moved into the house 2 years ago I have been itching to paint our door red. I know everyone has a red door these days but they are just so darn cheery. The door to our first rental home was painted red so I had to do it on our home....it just looks more inviting.

Here are the pics......

After:
I removed the kick plate and spray painted it.

This "letters" door knocker was nailed higher on our black door. We purchased it from Savannah, GA two years ago during our summer vacation.

Doesn't it look happy?!
