Consumed!!

I know I haven't posted in a long time, basically, I am consumed by school work and exhausted when I get home. In addition to that I haven't had much to blog about, I left my camera card in my school computer during our lake weekend...boo.  So in honor of my other spouse (school). I am dedicating this blog to inspiring educational blogs.

Here are some of my favorite educational blogs, mostly due to awesome printables. If you are not a teacher, these printables would still be great for your own kids.
This is my favorite:

Hi, my name is Ashley......

and I am addicted to Sperry's!!!
That's right only a few months after my first pair I bought yet another pair of Sperry's.
I love them, both of them. My new pair is leopard print instead of the mesh. I know that sounds  a bit odd but they are so adorable.  I am not a huge fan of animal print but I do enjoy leopard here and there.

I have leopard print rugs in my kitchen

Leopard print on my pillows

(this is an old pic by the way, you know I change everything around every week.)

And now I have leopard on my shoes

MEEEOOOWWWW! or GRRROOOWWWLLL!

Let there be light!

Sometimes when I go into stores I like to play a game that I like to call "If I could spend______".
Today my husband and I went to Lowes to run a quick errand and while I waited I played
"If I could spend $600 on lighting".

I have been scoping out some lights to replace the fixture above the kitchen island.
This is our current light, a boring floursecent light.

I would like a few pendant lights hanging above the island.

Here are some of my favorite kitchen lights:

These lights range from 200-400 dollars but today I found one for $119, and it was at lowes!!

I would love this one above the dining room table

And this one in the entryway

AHHH lights, how I love you!

Happy Birthday Matthew!

Today is my brother's birthday, the big 29!  Matt is my only sibling so growing up we found a best friend in each other.  As most siblings, we moved away for college and lived in different states for years. We saw each other about twice a year...not nearly enough. Last year he entered the doctorate program at UNT and lived with us for a few months. Now he lives about 8 miles from us.  We couldn't be more excited to have him close!! No one knows you quite like your sibling, only they understand your childhood.
We love you Matt!
(Dad, Me, Mom, and Matt)

Top 5 things I love about Matt:
1. You are the smartest person I know
2. Your hair has gorgeous curls that I wish I had been born with
3. You are hilarious
4. You always did the dishes and unloaded groceries for me
5. You love playing UNO, as do I

I love navy, yellow and chevron

I have always loved yellow and navy but I just noticed two items in my home with the colors combined. So yeah, I guess I love them.

I finally ordered a Dani Notes iPhone cover...guess what pattern and colors I chose?
Yellow and Navy in a chevron print!
By the way this is a great phone cover, very cute and durable.

Who remembers this crushed orange velvet friend with a case of cat scratch fever?
If you don't it's because I posted about it a little over a month ago.
Ha Ha and I also said I would be finished with them that week.

Well here we are a month later and I finally finished them one...guess what colors I chose?
Navy ticking stripe with a yellow chevron pillow.

It's not perfect but I am pleased with my first slipcover job.

And how cute is that pillow?

Katie and I found the pillow fabric at Hancock Fabrics for half price, so I bought a bolt yard.
Here is a closer look at the fabric before purchasing it at the store.

I also saw this cute fabric.
I would love to fashion an old school jumper or cape for someone, just kidding.

A Country Chic Couples Shower

Tonight we hosted a couples shower for our good friends Bryan and Courtney. Bryan and Courtney are so cute together, he is a very laid back country boy and she is a spunky classy city girl.

Thanks to Katie for taking the photos

Here are the details:
The lovely couple

Decorations:
Chalkboard sign, I originally bought this at Home Goods

This is the view as you walk through the door

I hung one pennant in the entry(see photo above) and one in the kitchen.
The pennants were made using fabric scraps from my craft room.

Each table had mason jars filled with coffee beans on the bottom.
The jars were purchased from Kirkland's

Existing chalkboard that lives on the dining room wall.

Food and Drink:
We put all drinks on the screened porch since the ice buckets usually drip.

Mason Jar fans for those who wanted to brave the heat on the porch
Aggie cups for the Bride. I took this chalkboard from my craft room.

Ice water with T labels for the couples last name.

We had hamburgers, chips, and baked beans for dinner.
I found the burger baskets on sale at Walmart for .30 each.
I also found this Mr. and Mrs. tissue at Walmart for $1(it was used to line the baskets)

These small bags contained plasticware, the Pop Shop crate is from my living room.
I printed the bag graphic on my home printer.

I couldn't find napkins that I really liked so I ended up making napkin rings from oil cloth scraps.
The napkins are paper khaki shop towels that I found at Lowe's.

Instead of fries we had Miss Vickie's chips from Sam's.

Mason Jars held a serving of baked beans
I really liked the gingham lids, these are from Walmart as well.
The serving line.
For dessert we had s'mores cupcakes (thanks for making the icing Katie)

Guests:
Courtney's Family, her Dad was MIA

Friends from School

The Guys

Gifts:
I made this gifts sign out of fabric scraps and heat transfer vinyl
Our host gift to the couple
The goodies

We played a "how well do you know your bride?" trivia game.
Bryan was given 14 questions to answer about Courtney.
If he got the question wrong he had to chew a piece of gum.
This was his "wad" after the game was over, 5 pieces of gum.

Congratulations Love Birds!!!!
